Hutch Firefighters Help Local Food Bank

On December 16th, Hutchinson Local 179 Firefighters gathered at local stores to spend $500.00 for the local food bank.  The unions own firetruck was used to transport the goods to the Reno County Food Bank.

Pennies for Fireman

Wiley Elementary School students collected pennies throughout the month of October for thier local firefighters.  October being Fire Safety month,  the students wanted to do some nice for the fireman in return of thier fire safety programs.  Students raised $140.00 and presented the check to a few of our finest.  The money was recently used to help purchase toys for First Call For Help, which is a yearly tradition for Local 179.  This year we spent $1500.00 on toys for kids in Hutch that might not get a Christmas present this year.  Local 179 wishes to send a big THANK YOU to all the students of Wiley for this great gift. 

On October 15th the Hutchinson Firefighters IAFF Local 179 donated $250.00 to the Prosperity Grade School Watch D.O.G.S. program which encourages dads to get involved with school activities and provide a good role model for their children.  Check was presented to Laura Engelland, PTO President and Mike Wallace the Watch D.O.G.S.coordinator
